Getting your trinamiX PAL Two ready in 5 steps!
Step 1: Activate your license
You will receive a personal invitation email from our support team. Claim your license by simply clicking on the “Activate” button in the email. You will then be redirected to the Customer Portal where you will be asked to set up your account.

Step 2: Open the app and connect the spectrometer

Download the trinamiX Guide App and log in with the credentials you used during sign-up in the Customer Portal.
- Switch on the spectrometer.
- Open the app and navigate to the scan section.
- Tap the green button to search for available spectrometers and select yours from the list to connect.

Step 3: Calibrate the spectrometer
To ensure optimum results you need to calibrate your spectrometer.
Tap the green “Calibrate” button in the device settings of the app and follow the on-screen instructions and animations.
Step 4: Perform a measurement

Step 5: Analyse the measurement data
In the Customer Portal you can manage your measurements, create reports and export your data to share with others.
- Access your measurement history
- Download measurement results in the desired format
- Visualize the spectral information

Technical Infos
The trinamiX PAL Two handheld NIR spectrometer is designed for optimal user experience, featuring a built-in display for immediate measurement results.
- Durability: IP65-rated, dust and water-resistant for use in harsh environments.
- Charging: trinamiX PAL Two runs about 3.000 scans and can be quickly recharged with the USB charging port located underneath.
- Reference standard: Magnetically attached on top.
- Accessories: The screw mount with a ¼ inch UNC standard thread allows for easy attachment of various (camera) accessories.

Operation
The spectrometer features a single operation button located on the front of the device, which is used to power the device on and off as well as to start a scan.
Button on the spectrometer
- Hold it short to turn the spectrometer on
- Press it shortly to perform a measurement
- Hold it long to get the switch off message, hold it long again to turn the spectrometer off.

The trinamiX PAL Two uses vibrations to indicate various statuses
One short vibration
Indicates that the spectrometer has started, is connected, or a scan was successful.
Two short vibrations
Indicates an error has occurred, a negative event, or the Bluetooth connection has been disconnected.
One short and one long vibration
Indicates that the measurement is complete. This occurs only if multiple scans are required for a measurement.
After each successful scan, there is a short vibration. When the required number of scans is completed, this vibration pattern indicates that the measurement was successful.
FAQs
Yes, PAL Two needs to be connected via Bluetooth to your mobile device to be connected to the cloud. This also enables you to collect data and analyse data in our Customer Portal.
You can measure when being offline, but the results are calculated in the cloud, so you need to get internet connection to see the measurement results.
The PAL Two is engineered for heavy-duty use both indoors and outdoors. While PAL Two can withstand minor shocks, it is not designed to be dropped from significant heights. A drop from a table may be tolerated, but we cannot guarantee full operability afterward.

Yes, it complies with the product class IP65 and are therefore classified as protected against dust and water jets.
The scan window is made of sapphire and thus quite scratch resistant with Moh’s1 hardness of 9. For comparison: a diamond has a Moh hardness of 10, steel of 4.5.
You can compare the scratch resistance with the screen of your mobile phone.
The battery of PAL Two runs about 3.000 scans, before it has to be recharged.
To recharge the battery from 0 % to 95 % takes approx. 3 hours.
PAL Two has 12 Tungsten halogen lamps with a lifetime of about 500.000 scans.
Clean the spectrometer with a brush or cloth. Clean the scan window with a lint-free lab cloth with some soda all-purpose cleaning agent. Always take care that the scan window is free from dust, dirt, scratches, fingerprints, or other contaminants after cleaning, to ensure optimal measurement results. The device housing is sensitive to acids and bases. Avoid contact with them and clean the device in case of contact.
