Step 3: Setup the rotator and calibrate the spectrometer

To ensure optimum results you need to calibrate your spectrometer.

  1. Attach the rotator to the PAL Two spectrometer.
  2. Switch on the rotator mode in the app’s device sheet.
  3. Tap the green “Calibrate” button and follow the on-screen instructions and animations.

Technical Infos

The trinamiX PAL Two Rotator is designed to significantly expanding the sample area for a more comprehensive and representative analysis.

  • Rotation: 10 rpm
  • Charging: trinamiX PAL Two runs about 6 hours and can be quickly recharged with the USB charging port located underneath.
  • Recharging: The battery recharges from 0% to 95% in approx. 2 to 3 hours.
  • Stability during measurements: By placing the lid of the rotator upside down and position the spectrometer with the attached rotator, securely in the designated area.
  • Removable cup: Each rotator is supplied with two cups: one for facilitating the calibration process and the other for sample collection.

Operation

The app will indicate when you need to attach the rotator on trinamiX PAL Two. You simply slide the rotator over the scanning area of the spectrometer and turn it on.

The rotator features a single operation button located on the top of the device, which is used to power the device on and off.

  • To turn on the rotator, press the button briefly. The power button features four LEDs.
  • To turn off the rotator, hold the button for one second. While you hold the button, the LEDs will gradually fade out, indicating that the device is powered off.

Battery

State of Charge (SoC)

The power button also indicates the battery state of charge (SoC).  Each LED represents 25% of the SoC. The brightness of the last illuminated LED reflects the percentage of that LED.

(e.g., at 25%, the LED is at maximum brightness, and at 12.5%, the LED is at 50% brightness).

Charging

While charging, the last illuminated LED blinks with a slow fade.

If the button is pressed to start the motor while the SoC is less than or equal to 5%, the motor will not start, and all four LEDs will blink briefly to indicate that the action is not allowed, and the battery needs to be recharged.

Rotation

The LEDs stop displaying the SoC when the rotator is running.
