The duo, which is part of our business development team focusing on solutions for the recycling industry, had been eager to attend the much-anticipated event. The annual conference drew experts from across the value chain to discuss innovative technologies for increasing the volume of recycled plastics. Together, they explored ways to improve the quality of reclaimed materials so that they can be used in higher-value applications.

On day 2, Adrian took to the stage for his presentation titled “How innovative tech is improving plastics identification today – and in the future”. He opened the talk by outlining the lacking access to recycling infrastructure in many regions around the globe. This has led to a large amount of plastic waste ending up in landfill or incineration. Adrian highlighted that globally only nine percent of plastic waste is properly recycled.

According to him, a key puzzle piece to increasing the rate of recycled material lies in generating better sorted waste streams across the globe. This can only be achieved if the access barriers to plastic identification technology are lowered. Adrian stressed that affordability, scalability, and intuitive handling are key requirements for any solution to be adopted on a larger scale in this space. Adrian concluded his talk by presenting use cases from Europe and beyond, demonstrating how trinamiX’s technology has been helping market players create more valuable material streams – from Germany to Ghana and all the way to Thailand.
